Fresh water is an irreplaceable element for human survival, its availability is critical and complex and its lack threatens hemispheric security, which is why it is a geostrategic resource, since its control is synonymous with wealth and power. From this section, the interest of analyzing fresh water as a geostrategic resource from the perspective of hydropolitics originates, under the criterion of a qualitative research of documentary type. The results of the study are focused on the need to promote hydropolitics under the premise of new policies of change based on the understanding, use, dimension, valuation and projection of this indispensable resource for socioeconomic development, food security, survival of human beings and ecosystems. As for the conclusions, the water resource will then be the pen that will write new elements of greed and avarice among the most powerful, for this reason, the agreements between the main political actors should not only enter into a dynamic of stable and lasting dialogue, but also enter into a new phase oriented towards cooperation and trust, in order to avoid any other unilateral or violent solution.
